Hello, all of my Brown Belt elites.
Since it is going to be a long weekend (MLK Day on Monday), I will give you a small assignment. Research a bit about the Bunkai of Bassai Dai. You can just focus on one part/technique of the kata, or you can bring Bunkai ideas of multiple parts of kata. I have not covered Bassai Dai in my Trainees' Class yet, but I will try to communicate with my fellow trainee about it before the Tuesday class to introduce his ideas to you. (Except for Dima for being 5thB, and not familiar with the Bassai Dai yet).
I am going to teach half or 1/3 of the regular class, too, that day, so, the thirty minutes of the BBC class and my portion of the regular class will be all about preparation for the upcoming Kyu Exam. Some of you guys are testing on Jan 26. Sensei will ask you a question about Bunkai of your kata. That's why I want to cover the Bunkai of Bassai Dai. Also, during the regular class, I will do One Step Sparring and Semi Free Sparing. I will focus on body shifting in those kumite drills. That's for the kyu exam, too. Paul is going to do Kihon portion in the regular class that day, and I have asked him to cover Kihon for the kyu exam. So, hopefully, you will feel more ready after the Tuesday BBC class regular class.
Dima, I don't know if I can cover Heian 5Dan bunkai on Tuesday. So, get me whenever you see me before or after class on any day to discuss the Bunkai. We have covered Heian 5th in the Trainees' Class. So, I have good ones from the class and Taka Maeshima's version of the Bunkai.
Osu!
Hiroko
P.S. Peter-san, are you testing?
