Hello, all. I am going to make a thread especially for "Graduates" soon. There, I would like to re-introduce our proud graduates of the Brown Belt Club. I have already contacted Mr. David Hermann to be our first graduate, even though when he got this Shodan, the BBC had not been created yet. He passed his Shodan Exam in November 2013, and the experience that I had while I coached him and accompanied him to Philly inspired me to create the Brown Belt Club. After submitting my proposal to Sensei David Ernst and getting encouragement and guidance from him, our BBC sessions started in January 2014. You guys are the original members of the BBC. Mr. Hermann being the first and honor graduate, we recently had two more wonderful karate-ka as new graduates: Pallavi and Andrey. They performed very well in the Dan Exam that I received numerous complements from my fellow judges and colleagues. I appreciate their hard work, and I personally feel honored that they took some of my instructions into account seriously enough to correct and modify their techniques for the exam. I saw that in their performances, and it made me very proud.
In the BBC, I try to throw everything that I have seen and learned, and try to deliver them to you. What I know are mostly from my Japanese sensei in the past as well as great American sensei, and I remember their words. I don't make up things. I deliver their words and instructions directly to you. While I don't know everything, or better to say, I don't know much at all in this endless karate endeavor, what I say with confidence are what I heard from the great sensei; so you must believe me. That is one of the important requirements that I expect from the BBC members. Of course, you guys are adults and entitled to your own opinions and your own learning experiences. So, there were sometimes that all of these graduates, Mr. Hermann, Pallavi, and Andrey, wanted to do their own ways. But, mostly, at the end, they took me in and perform as I suggested and owned it beautifully.
What I would like the graduates to do are the following: Please send me one or two best pictures of you. They can be your karate pictures or not. Pallavi, you gave me your karate history. So, I can copy that, but if you want to add some more to it, re-wite and send it to me. Andrey, write up a brief karate history of you. Both of you, not only karate history, but you can write whatever about karate: your karate favorites, your goal, anything. I will post those on the "Graduates" thread.
Finally, regarding to the graduates staying in the BBC, I will also address in my future email about re-organizing members for the new BBC sessions (starting after Labor Day). Most likely, the requirement will be the regular attendance, maybe more so as compared to the regular members, to show Senpai's spirit.
Let me know if you have any questions.
Thanks, and Osu.
