Hello, all;
I will share some basic drills that I learned during the weekend of Master Camp today. Since we only have 30 minutes, so, we cannot cover much. Maybe very basics (very important as well) things that Master Yaguchi taught during the Instructor Trainees Class in the Camp. It is more theoretical rather than physical exercise. Also, very soon, I will have to re-organize the members of the Brown Belt Club. I will have to let go a few people who have difficulties to attend and recruit one or two new members, if any. I will send an email to all soon. Osu, Hiroko

Master Camp was awesome! Four hours of training each day. Very helpful tips and detailed instruction. Brown belt level is a great time to go because the morning class is mixed with black belt and the afternoon class led by a master instructor (Yaguchi, Ochi, Takahachi) is dedicated to brown belts and it is much smaller than the packed black belt class at that time. No one in our dojo should miss it! Only three hours away - others are flying in from all over the world.

Saturday, all the trainees needed to judge at the kids' tournament in the afternoon. Sunday, I took an optional, and then I had a trainees' class. Next time, I hope I could sneak into the brown belt class. Can you share a bit about what you learned in those classes tonight, if you plan to attend the BBC. Maybe 15 minutes. Osu. Hiroko

Hello, members. Thanks for showing up yesterday. Good to see you, and I would like to talk to you about what I learned during the camp more over time. It is pretty fundamental and basic, but mind-blowing.
Here are a few comments about your performance yesterday:
Andrey: Think about your heel of the back leg; connection of it and your hip. Then, as you focus on them, do Gedan Barai, and Chokuzuki repeatedly.
Peter-san: Generate the power from hip and legs. Image that your arms are whips, whose movement are created by the aforementioned. Relax and make the rotation of body possible so that the range of motion of your whips expand.
Reto:Weight down in Heisoku Dachi and shift feet (Ashi Sabaki)are a flow before the impact of a down block. Flow and emphasis. Breathe and move more gracefully.
Ana:Read my comments to Dima. Also, focus on punching and kicking to the opponent's center line of the body: Jin-Chu (center of body, one of those being Chudan level target: Mizo-Ochi (solar flexus) and Bishin-Ko (between nose and mouse).
Dima:Experiment blocks with bent elbows and prep positions of blocks. When elbows are bent, the connection of your arm (elbow) and your body (chest/ oblique areas) are important. If the connection is not there, an arm cannot withstand the great force. For example, Shuto-uke position and Shuto Uke itself. Change the positions of the elbow and feel what position might give you more power.
Thanks again for showing up! Osu, Hiroko

May I stay in BBC? Maybe I won't be able to attend all the classes but I really miss the energy of BBC Thanks for your nice comments about the BBC, Pallavi. I am planning to send all the members and potential members an email soon, probably in a week or two with regard to renewing/reorganizing members. I assume that many will be away during the summer months; although I plan to continue with the BBC with remaining members. After Labor Day, the the new term of the BBC possibly with a few members, will start. Thanks, again, Osu. Hiroko

Then it would have to be B2BC. B-squared. One thing that Sensei Jones said at Camp was to drive your energy through the center-line (mid-point) of your body to the striking point. We did rotational drills to emphasis the mid-point energy (combined with hip vibration. On Tuesday my legs were still feeling the effects of 10.5 hours of training (and runs) over the weekend.
